Your Weight Loss Resolution Check Up

With just 4 weeks into the new year, how are you doing on your resolution to become more active, lose weight, and get healthier?
In keeping with an age-old tradition, millions of people resolved to lose weight at the beginning of 2016. Have you noticed you started out strong, but you’re feeling like you’re losing a bit of motivation? You aren’t alone. On average, less than 10% of people will keep their resolutions. So how do you keep going strong in your promise to yourself that this would be the year you lose weight and get healthy?
Instead of gradually letting your goals slip away from you, it’s important to deliberately recommit to yourself every few weeks.

If you have fallen off the wagon a bit, there is still time to get back on. Here are a few things to consider:
  • Was your weight loss goal realistic? With diet and exercise you can expect to lose 2 lbs per week. Did you set the bar too high, expecting to lose 5 or more lbs per week? If so, you may want to adjust to a more realistic, achievable goal.

  • Remember the benefit of paying attention to your food choices, exercise, and keeping a journal of your daily progress. Have you been doing this? If not, and you aren’t losing weight, is it worth a try?
  • Make sure you’re staying away from THIEF foods that are listed in my Skinny Life book!
  • Are you moving your body? Are you finding new, fun, and creative ways to move your body? Are you exercising too much one day, only to feel sore and tired the next? What can you do different to create harmony and balance?

These are simple but important things you can do now that will help keep you motivated and continue on your health journey. Only you know your goals and how you will measure success. Keep moving forward. You can do this!
