If you have stopped eating after 7:00 p.m. to lose weight — that’s not a good reason.
Why? Because when you eat doesn’t matter and snacking after 7:00 p.m. doesn’t cause weight gain.
What is important is regulating your calorie intake throughout the day.
If you typically snack or eat dessert most nights, or find yourself wandering to the fridge when boredom or tiredness strikes, and you have already eaten your calories for the day, then those habits can lead to weight gain because you are exceeding your caloric needs — and as you know a build-up of surplus calories is what will make your pants tighter and your buttons bulge.
If you know that you tend to eat a lot in the evening hours (and you can’t cut the habit), it can be an effective weight management strategy to set a “cut-off” time for yourself or to save some of your calories for later in the evening.
